Rural Districts of Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines

For this project in the Philippines, I decided to distribute the majority of dedicated  funds to a small district called San Fernando, in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. The rest were brought to an even smaller district called Santo Niño, also in the province of Nueva Vizcaya.

From my last GGB project experience in the Philippines, I felt that my future projects should be more focused on the rural areas where families are not within easy access to the main parts of town. Although there are many families who deserve to be GGB recipients, I find that those who live within the outskirts require a bit more assistance due to limited resources.

My family organized and created packages containing non-perishable foods such as rice, sardines, crackers, noodles, sugar, coffee, and so on were bought; and hygiene products like soap, and shampoo.   For the kids, we put together bags filled with treats that included biscuits, chocolates, powdered milk, and a few other edible items.

I was fortunate enough to receive help from the town counsellors by having them allocate stubs to families, as well as transporting all the packages to the distribution destination. With the allocation of stubs, we had a rough number of beneficiaries, so we can purchase the appropriate amount of food and other items for the adults as well as children.  The stubs also made the distribution process much more organized when everyone gathered in one location.

I’m overjoyed to be given this opportunity, and to personally hand out donations to GGB recipients. All of the beneficiaries were extremely grateful for the donations they’ve received.  It truly is an amazing feeling, to give without expecting anything in return. I’m very thankful for all the sponsors, and those who donated in previous GGB fundraising events. All of this wouldn’t have happened without such generous people. I’m looking forward to all the upcoming GGB fundraisers, as well as future projects!
