Generously Giving Back-Packs Project

March 2016, the GGB Team

2016-backpacks (19)

When Susan first announced to a handful of friends that we were going to do a Backpacks project for Boyle Street, they immediately expressed their interest in helping to fill the backpacks. She booked a table at one of her favourite vegan restaurants, Padmanadi, so that she and her small group of friends can eat, and catch up while working on a worthy cause.

As with many things that Susan does, more and more people started hearing about the project. Kasim, owner of Padmanadi, very generously offered to do a buffet and offered to donate the revenue from the evening to GGB. What started out as a group of 8 to 10 friends getting together, became a 100 person dinner GGB event. We had completely filled Padmanadi to the max!

The evening had lovely moments where Kasim decided to surprise all of his guests with a wonderful singing performance.Morgan from Boyle Street

Our guest speaker, Morgan Chalfoux, from Boyle Street gave us a moving story of how she experienced support from Boyle Street first hand.

2016 Backpacks for Boyle Street
Together, we donated 75 stuffed backpacks to Boyle Street Community Services that help local Edmontonians in need. Each backpack contained 23 gender neutral essential items like socks, gloves, tuque, shampoo, soap, and toothbrush.
A big thank you Padmanadi Restaurant (Kasim, Maya, Angela, and staff) for hosting as well as generously donating the profits of $1,010 to GGB!
