Project Details:
Nestled in the heart of Ambato, Ecuador, the Santa Marianita Orphanage is a safe haven for children facing abandonment, orphanhood, or life in high-risk environments. The home provides care for children ranging from newborns to 12 years old, offering them a nurturing environment where they can grow, heal, and thrive.
Run by the Diócesis de Ambato, the orphanage delivers comprehensive support including shelter, nutritious meals, healthcare, education, and emotional care. A dedicated team of educators, psychologists, social workers, and volunteers work together to ensure each child receives the attention and dignity they deserve.
Santa Marianita also promotes recreational and developmental activities to foster holistic growth, while advocating for adoption opportunities when possible. It stands as a beacon of hope for vulnerable children in the Tungurahua province, supported by generous donors and community partners who believe in building a brighter future.
As part of GGB’s November initiative, our local ambassadors in Ecuador brought warmth and joy to the children at the Santa Marianita Orphanage. Each child received a cozy, hand-knitted toque made with love by our volunteer Moon, along with a GGB gift bag from Canada filled with crayons, coloring books, notebooks, toothbrushes, candies, pens, pencils, a sharpener, and a small toy. The team also delivered food hampers sourced from the farmers market in Ambato to support the orphanage’s needs.
We extend our sincere thanks to Ernesto, Benisa, Salomè, and Gabriella for their hands-on involvement in shopping for these items and personally delivering them to the children with care and compassion.
