Feeding Program in Montalban/Rodiguez

Year:

2023

Location:

Rodriguez, Rizal, Philippines

Beneficiary:

Children in Montalban/Rodriguez

Project Details:

In the mountainous communities of Montalban (officially know as Rodriguez), Rizal, many children grow up in environments marked by economic hardship, limited access to healthcare, and food insecurity. For these young lives, feeding programs are not just about meals—they’re about survival, dignity, and the chance to grow up healthy.

The beneficiaries of feeding programs in Montalban often include:

- Children from informal settlements and remote sitios like Upper Pintor

- Kids from low-income families where daily meals are inconsistent

- Young learners in daycare centers and Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNP) groups

- Children identified by local health workers as malnourished or underweight

These children may arrive at school or community centers hungry, tired, and unable to focus. Feeding programs offer a vital intervention that restores energy and supports their development.

For many children in Montalban, these programs are the only consistent source of nutrition. They:

- Combat malnutrition and stunting

- Improve school attendance and learning outcomes

- Support working parents who struggle to provide balanced meals

- Foster community engagement and local empowerment

Our goodwill ambassadors—Carlos, Minda, Susan, and Liem—led an initiative to support the feeding program in Montalban, Rizal. Their efforts provided essential food and supplies for the children.

The team purchased and delivered:

- Nutritious meals including pasta, fried chicken, rice, and pork

- Beverages to keep children hydrated and refreshed

- Cutlery, plates, cups, and napkins

This outreach not only filled stomachs, it fostered joy, connection, and a sense of care within the community.
