Food Hamper Distribution – Temal Dadagaun Village
Year:
2018
Location:
Kavrepalanchok District, Nepal
Beneficiary:
Families in Temal Dadagaun Village
Project Details:
In a determined effort to reach families in one of Nepal’s most remote regions, GGB volunteers journeyed through steep mountain roads and narrow valleys to deliver food hampers to 85 households in Temal Dadagaun Village, located in Kavrepalanchowk District. The hampers contained rice and lentils, enabling families to prepare Dahl Bhat, a traditional and nourishing Nepali meal that sustains many in rural communities.
Life in Kavrepalanchowk District is shaped by its rugged terrain and limited infrastructure. Villages like Temal Dadagaun are perched high in the hills, where access to markets, healthcare, and education is often hindered by distance and seasonal weather. Most families rely on subsistence farming, growing maize, millet, and vegetables on terraced slopes. Water sources are scarce, and many homes lack electricity or proper sanitation. Despite these challenges, the community is rich in culture and resilience, with strong ties to Tamang and other indigenous traditions.
This outreach not only provided essential food supplies but also served as a gesture of solidarity—reminding families in Temal Dadagaun that they are seen, valued, and supported by a global community committed to compassion and dignity.
