GGB Scholarships for Truc & Loi

Trúc and Lợi are siblings from Châu Đốc City, An Giang Province, facing immense financial and emotional hardship. Their father, a former teacher, is in the final stages of cancer, and their mother has stopped working at the local market to care for him full-time. The family lives in a shared, deteriorating shack with eight people, under a leaking tin roof, with no option for repairs due to pending government reclamation.

Trúc, is in her second year studying Early Childhood Education at a university in Long Xuyên, 65 km from home. She currently lives in a rental and has submitted proof of her academic performance. Lợi, is in Grade 9 at Nguyễn Trãi School in Châu Đốc and has outstanding tuition fees.

In September 2017, GGB approved scholarships to cover tuition, books, and basic living necessities. GGB Ambassador Tran Thi Chi Lan visited the family’s home and hospital to verify their situation. She coordinated the delivery of food and supplies during her visits.

This project offers not only financial relief but also emotional encouragement for two determined students striving to continue their education despite overwhelming challenges.
