In a compassionate effort led by Cristina Para, GGB organized a multi-location relief project across rural communities in Nueva Vizcaya, aiming to support 80 to 100 underprivileged families with essential supplies.
Read Cristina’s firsthand account below.
For this GGB project in the Philippines, I chose to distribute the majority of donations in San Fernando, a small district in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. The remaining supplies were brought to Santo Niño, an even smaller district within the same province. Based on my previous experience with GGB in the Philippines, I felt a strong need to focus future efforts on rural areas—especially communities located far from town centers, where access to resources is limited. While many families are deserving of support, those living on the outskirts often face greater challenges and require additional assistance.
I was fortunate to receive support from the town councillors, who helped allocate distribution stubs to families and assisted with transporting donations on the day of the event. My family also played a key role in organizing and repacking the items. Most of the donations consisted of non-perishable food such as rice, sardines, crackers, noodles, sugar, and coffee. We also included hygiene products like soap and shampoo. For the children, we prepared goody bags filled with treats including biscuits, chocolates, powdered milk, and more.
To streamline the distribution, we gathered all recipients in a central location rather than visiting homes individually. The stub system helped us estimate the number of beneficiaries, plan purchases accordingly, and ensure every child received a goody bag. The families were deeply grateful for the support they received. I’m truly honored to have had the opportunity to personally hand out donations to GGB recipients. Giving without expectation is a powerful experience, and I’m incredibly thankful to all the sponsors and donors who made this possible. I look forward to future GGB fundraisers and the meaningful projects ahead.
