Wheels of Dignity: Mobility Support for Apdolo
Year:
2017
Location:
Tân Châu, An Giang, Vietnam
Beneficiary:
Mr. Apdolo
Project Details:
Apdolo is a 52-year-old man from the Chăm ethnic minority, living in Ấp Pum Soài, Châu Phong commune, Tân Châu district, An Giang province. At age 10, he contracted polio, resulting in permanent paralysis of both legs. Despite these challenges, he remains the heart of a family of five. His eldest son, just 18, fishes for crabs and snails to support the household, while his two younger children (ages 16 and 14) help sell the catch and lottery tickets to earn a modest living.
Due to the family’s remote location and lack of resources, Apdolo had no access to mobility support. In September 2017, GGB Ambassador Tran Thi Chi Lan personally visited his home, delivered a mobile chair, which now provides Apdolo with essential mobility, dignity, and independence.
