Wheels of Dignity – An Phú
Year:
2019
Location:
An Phú, An Phú District, An Giang, Vietnam
Beneficiary:
Việt in An Phú District, An Giang Province
Project Details:
Việt contracted polio at age 2 and has lived with physical disability ever since. Despite his condition, he works daily selling lottery tickets to support his elderly mother and older brother. His father passed away in 2017 due to a stroke, leaving Việt as the family’s sole provider.
Việt lives in An Phú District with his 75-year-old mother, who depends entirely on his care. His older brother, affected by Agent Orange, suffers from severe neurological damage and mental impairment, requiring constant supervision. The household relies solely on Việt’s modest income from selling lottery tickets, a daily effort that sustains the family’s basic needs.
The mobility chair provided to Việt is more than a tool—it’s a lifeline. It allows him to travel independently, easing the physical and emotional burden on his aging mother while enabling him to continue supporting his family with dignity.
