Meet the Board Members

Our board members come from diverse backgrounds and play a key role in guiding our strategic direction, ensuring we stick to legal and ethical standards, and protecting our mission and values.

Like our Goodwill Ambassadors, our board members volunteer their time and don’t receive any salary from the charity. They also cover all their own travel and accommodation expenses when working on charity projects.

 Director, CEO

Susan Cao

Susan is a Project Manager of a metal building manufacturing company. Her drive for charity work comes from being a mother and remembering her early years as an immigrant to Canada. Susan is appreciative of her parents' sacrifices. When they escaped Vietnam by boat to seek a better life, she saw her father's strength, perseverance and work ethics as he did physical work in Alberta's cold temperatures to provide for his family. Even when they only had the basic necessities, her mom was a role model. She taught Susan generosity by sharing what little they had to give to those less fortunate than themselves. Susan is grateful to have friends and family who support her charitable projects. Her initial focus on helping orphans and disabled children in Vietnam has grown over the years to include ailing seniors, abandoned people, and underprivileged families in different parts of the world. Susan believes that there are no boundaries to charity work. All the projects that she accomplished prior to 2014 are the heart and soul behind the creation of Generously Giving Back.

Meet the GoodWill Ambassadors

Our Goodwill Ambassadors know the region, communities, and people really well. They take full responsibility for managing our funds.

Our dedicated Ambassadors often travel long distances, sometimes to remote areas with dangerous terrain, to personally deliver essential items like food, clothing, and basic necessities to children, seniors, families, and communities in need.

We carefully select our Ambassadors for their high ethical standards, reliability, trustworthiness, project management skills, compassion, and respectfulness. They also cover all their travel and accommodation expenses when working on any GGB projects.

Dennis Reyes

Dennis Reyes

Dennis was born in San Francisco, but raised in Tondo, Manila by  his grandparents in his first few years. He then immigrated to Canada with his mom and has been living in Edmonton since then.  He's a proud father  of two great kids, both of whom are on their way to pave their own  lives.

He started working with GGB in the summer of 2023 volunteering  in the Philippines.  As a GGB representative, he worked with  Missionaries of the Poor, hospices and indigent tribes of the  Philippines.  Living and seeing first hand how the unfortunate live there, Dennis wants to help the people of his culture and plans to visit  and represent GGB there as long as he possibly can.

Dennis  was an IT Consultant, but now he loves to travel, explore, learn  martial arts, fitness goals and pursue a number of collective nerdy  hobbies.  Currently he's learning to be a mixologist, that's fancy talk  for a bartender

Tran Thi Chi Lan

Tran Thi Chi Lan

Chi Lan lives in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam. She’s an accountant and a mother of two.

For Chi Lan, charity isn’t a huge task or anything extra special. She organizes multiple charity trips each year to remote villages and mountainous areas, distributing essential supplies to those in need. Chi Lan plays a key role as a direct liaison between Canada and Vietnam and is our project puzzle finisher.

She believes that even though our lives may seem tough, we are still richer and have more opportunities than most people. As she says, “If we do not care, then who will? If each person can share just a little bit, then it will bring happiness to a lot of people.”

Kasim Kasim

Kasim Kasim

Kasim is a humanitarian, philanthropist, music enthusiast, and the owner of the popular vegan restaurant chain Padmanadi, with locations in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta. Since the success of his first restaurant in Jakarta, he’s been giving back to his community both locally and internationally. After natural disasters in Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, and Nepal, he successfully fundraised for relief efforts and even traveled to these countries to personally cook for those in need. GGB is proud to have Kasim as one of our Goodwill Ambassadors.

Craig Moore

Craig Moore

He is a paddler and steer in dragon boating and is a kid at heart, especialy, when playing with his nieces and nephews! But deep down, Craig is a sci-fi, You-tube, motorcyling kind of guy that wears his heart on his sleeve.

Cherie Vu

Cherie Vu

Cherie has a compassionate heart and finds great joy in all  opportunities to give back to those in need, both locally and abroad.

Having been raised in a family of six with parents that  consistently looked after others in seemingly simple ways like providing  a listening ear, a meal, a place to stay, or donating to a local food  bank hamper during regular grocery store trips, she was given a  foundation of giving to build upon.

When not building memories with her family, she enjoys exercising,  rowing, skiing, local festivals and events, playing board games,  watching movies, and travelling to various places around the world to  experience other cultures and food.
