Residents of Barangay Sipac-Almacen, located in Navotas City, Philippines

Project Details:

Barangay Sipac-Almacen, located in Navotas City, Philippines, is a densely populated coastal community where many families depend on small-scale fishing and mussel farming for their livelihood. The area faces ongoing challenges such as poverty, overcrowding, and frequent flooding, exacerbated by its low elevation and limited infrastructure.

Recent land reclamation projects have severely impacted local livelihoods, resulting in the loss of thousands of mussel farms with little to no compensation provided. Despite these hardships, the community continues to show remarkable resilience. However, access to essential services—including sanitation, healthcare, and stable employment—remains a daily struggle.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Editha Marquicias and MJ Borres, GGB Goodwill Ambassadors, for their invaluable support in the Barangay Sipac-Almacen community project. In this initiative, 260 food hampers were personally delivered to families in need, with priority given to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and riverbank settlers. Each hamper included rice, noodles, sardines, and luncheon meat.

In addition, Mrs. Marquicias and MJ generously contributed toiletries, slippers, and school supplies to enhance the hampers. We also gratefully acknowledge Barangay official Mr. Kyle Gonzales for his assistance and for mobilizing volunteers to help make this project possible.
